West Derby today
West Derby is centred on the historic Village, but the name is also used for the wider neighbourhood and several local boundaries. Liverpool City Council's West Derby neighbourhood area has more than 48,000 residents.
These boundaries are not all the same. The historic area, the Liverpool West Derby parliamentary constituency and today's council wards each cover different places. Current ward names include West Derby Leyfield, West Derby Deysbrook and West Derby Muirhead, alongside Sandfield Park and neighbouring areas. This is why population figures can vary depending on the boundary being used.
